FISH PIE recipe.
Ingredients
1kg flour
500g butter 🧈
¼ tsp of salt or seasoning (I prefer seasoning)
½ tsb of baking powder
1 cups of water 💦
3 tbs powered milk
Flavor of choice
1 egg ( for egg washing)
FOR THE FILLING
Sizeable fish 🐟
Grated carrot 🥕
Shredded bonnet pepper 🌶️
Green pepper 🫑🫑
Seasoning/ thyme/shallot ( dried onions) for cooking the fish.
1 small onion 🧅
Groundnut oil
PROCEDURE
1)In a large bowl, sieve in your flour, salt, baking powder, powdered milk and mix very well
2)Add your butter and mix until well combined ( till you get a sandy texture)
3) Add your flavor and mix very well till well combined
4)Add the water to the dry ingredients and mix into a smooth dough
Cover with a nylon or plastic wrap and set aside or put in your fridge
FILLING
1)Season your fish and cook till soft
2)Debone the fish and mash a little
3)Get a sauce pan heat up your oil
4)Add in the shredded onion follow by bonnet pepper, add your grated carrot and cook for 3 minutes stirring it
5)Add the fish then seasoning keep stirring until well combined, add the green pepper last and put off the fire.
6)Allow to cool
7)Measure your dough by 65g and roll out to 8' length and 6' width
8)Put in your filling and fold by the width
9) Gress your baking tray and lay your fish pies
10)Egg wash them
11)Bake in the oven for 40-45 mins or until lightly golden brown
